3 Things You Should Do Every Day For Your Body

Our bodies are not doing what they were designed, or evolved to do. So we hurt.

Our necks hurt, our shoulders hurt, our low backs and hips hurt.

There are 3 things I recommend to help your body strengthen and lengthen so you can feel better, stronger, and stop being in pain all the time.

  1. Look up – it seems silly, but it’s real. Our ancestors looked up constantly for all kinds of reasons. We are always looking down. Make a habit of looking up several times a day. It will improve your cervical curve and the tone of your neck muscles. You may also start appreciating the beauty above you. When I started doing this I learned what the planets look like in the night sky.

  2. Do primal squats – our ancestors had a hell of a primal squat. Look at any toddler and you can see it’s our natural resting position. We never hold a squat for any reason in our daily lives for one big reason: toilets. This natural position is a must for improving your low back. To do a primal squat just squat and stay there. Correct form is flat footed, but I won’t tell anyone if you are on the balls of your feet. It’s still good for you!

  3. Back extensions – literally anything where you are arching your back. We are constantly forward in our modern lives. Our ancestors used the full extension of their backs often to climb trees and other activities that would have been common for primal humans. We never do. Start incorporating back extensions into your stretching. You can lay with a foam roller under your sacrum. You can do yoga poses “camel” or “reclining hero” or if you are advanced just do some back bends.

Bonus– Get up off the ground without using your hands! This silly sounding exercise has been found to be a top sign of longevity. Just do it a couple times a week. It may help keep you young.

And of course, if you are hurting, get a massage! Getting a massage every month can help your body for multiple reasons- and, combined with these activities can keep you where you want to be.
